Good dogs and the greater good.

WHAT IS akc canine good citizen®?

"The Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs. The CGC award is a prerequisite for many therapy dog groups. Some homeowner’s insurance companies are encouraging CGC testing, and an increasing number of apartments and condos require that resident dogs pass the CGC test. Dogs who pass the 10 step CGC test can earn a certificate and the official AKC CGC title. Dogs with the CGC title have the suffix 'CGC' after their names." — AKC

what is AKC Therapy Dog™?

"Therapy dogs are dogs who go with their owners to volunteer in settings such as schools, hospitals, and nursing homes. From working with a child who is learning to read to visiting a senior in assisted living, therapy dogs and their owners work together as a team to improve the lives of other people. AKC Therapy Dog titles can be earned by dogs who have been certified by AKC-recognized therapy dog organizations and have performed the required number of visits." — AKC
